Obituaries Mass was offered Aug. 13 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. Kamienski Funeral Home, Garfield, handled Kern, 87, died Aug. 12.

She was born in Bretten, Germany. She was a home-maker and member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Passaic. Surviving are a daughter, Doris Saimson of Garfield; a grandchild; and three great grandchildren. Her husband, Kurt, and 14 brothers and sisters, are deceased.

Services were Aug. 15 Aloia Funeral Home, Garfield, with interment in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Pater son. Loretta Mazzola GARFIELD Loretta Catroneo Mazzola, 90, died Aug. 12. She was a lifelong resident of Garfield.

Before retiring in 1978, she owned and operated Supermarket, Garfield, for 50 years. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Name R.C. Church and a member of Belmont Garden Seniors, both in Garfield. Surviving are a son, Frank Jack of Oradell, a sister, Victoria Vega of Garfield; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her husband, Philip, died in 1955, and a son, John, died in 1990.

Mass was offered Aug. 14 at Most Holy Name Church, with interment in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. Aloia Funeral Home, Garfield, handled Victoria Amoruso Victoria Robertazzi Amoruso, 89, of Fair Lawn, died Aug. 10.

Before retiring, she was a seamstress for Dress, Garfield, where she worked for 40 years. She was a parishioner of St. Anne's R.C. Church, Fair Lawn. Surviving are a son, Joseph P.

of Hawthorne; two daughters, Claire Spina of Westwood and Katherine Soltes of Clifton; a sister, Mary Torre of Lodi; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1990. Mass was offered Aug. 13 at St. Anne's Church, with entombment in St.

Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, Hawthorne, handled arrangements. Alberto Crespo GARFIELD Alberto Felipe Crespo, 19, died Aug. 12. He was a student at Lincoln Tech, Mahwah.

He was a member of Jesus Cristo es el Senor, Elizabeth. Surviving are his father, Alberto of Passaic; his mother, Nilda Rodriguez-Conception of Garfield; two sisters, Charlene Gomez and Melvilene Gomez, both of Garfield; his paternal grandmother, Ramona Crespo of Passaic; and his maternal grandparents, Felipe and Hilda Rodriguez of Garfield. Alvarez Funeral Home, Passaic, handled Annette (Capuozzo); a son, Thomas; a daughter, Dawn Kempka; two brothers, Jay and Gary Ryan; and a grandson. Services were Aug. 14 at Kamienski Funeral Home, Garfield.

Caroline Salek GARFIELD Caroline Lena Mazzo Salek, 85, died Aug. 11. Before retiring, she was a machine operator for Arrow Pants, Garfield, where she worked for 30 years. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Name R.C. Church, Garfield.

She was a member of Amalgamated Textile Workers Union, New York. Surviving are two brothers, C. Ben Mazzo of Elm-wood Park and Constantin Mazzo of Garfield; and two sisters, Elizabeth Brancato of Garfield and Bridget Tomesco of Lavalette. Her husband, Walter, and a brother, Frank Mazzo, are deceased. Mass was offered Aug.

16 at Most Holy Name Church, with entombment in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. Aloia Funeral Home, Garfield, handled arrangements. Frank Scarpa GARFIELD Frank Scarpa, 73, died Aug. 10.

Before retiring in 1989, he was a dock worker for McLean Trucking Kearny. Previously, he owned Scarpa Roofing for 30 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and past member and commander of Amvests Post 15, Garfield. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church, Garfield.

Surviving are his wife, Caroline (Scotto); a daughter, Joan Briggs; three grandchildren; and a Surviving is a son, Barry. Her husband, Nicholas, two brothers, John and Michael Petrison, and two sisters, Mary Petrison and Anne Mark, are deceased. Mass was offered Aug. 12 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, with interment in Calvary Cemetery. Kamien-ski Funeral Home, Garfield, handled arrangements.

Donations to the Tri-Hosp. Hospice and Home Care of Passaic would be appreciated. Marie Kasperski GARFIELD Marie "Salty" Luterzo Kasperski, 67, died Aug. 12. She was a lifelong resident of Garfield.

Before retiring in 1999, she was an office assistant for Mathe-son Gas, East Rutherford, where she worked for 25 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church, Garfield. She was a former treasurer and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2867 Auxiliary and a member of the Woman's Club, both in Garfield. She also was a department chairwoman for the Bergen County Veterans of Foreign Wars District 2 Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Ted; a son, Richard Tkach of Florida; two daughters, Michele Romano of Brick and Anna Lee Britt of Clifton; a stepdaughter, Christiann Vaught of Garfield; her mother, Anna Luterzo of Garfield; a brother, Michael Luterzo of Emerson; and five grandchildren. Mass was offered Aug. 16 at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, with interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Aloia Funeral Home, Garfield, handled arrangements.

Berta Kern GARFIELD Berta Klein John Shea III John J. Shea III, 42, of Stroudsburg, formerly of Garfield, died Aug. 10. He was a carpenter for Louis Maria Drywall, Stroudsburg, where he worked for 25 years. Surviving are two daughters, Melissa and Vanessa Shea, both of Garfield; his mother, Patricia Bracchitta of Wallington; three sisters, Liz Velez of Garfield, Susan Zeiske of Passaic Park and Debbie Churchill of Florida; three brothers, Brian Shea of Garfield, and Eddie and Bobby Surak, both of Pater-son; and dear friend Deborah Conklin.

Services were Aug. 14 at Alesso Funeral Home, Lodi, handled arrangements. Tessie Wojna Tessie Mierzejewski Wojna, 88, of Carlstadt, formerly of Wallington, died Aug. 10. She was a parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C.

Church, Wallington. She was a member of the Bergen Community Development Senior Citizens Center and the Wallington Senior Citizens. Surviving are a son, Eugene two daughters, Dolores Pukas and Dorothy Podolski; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Szymanski. Her husband, Eugene, and three brothers and one sister, are deceased. Services were Aug.

13 at Kimak Funeral Home, Carlstadt, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. William Ryan GARFIELD William "Beebee" Ryan, 53, died Aug. 10. He had been a forklift operator for Garden State Paper Garfield, where he worked for 28 years. He was an army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka R.C. Church, Garfield. Surviving are his wife, Julia Homyack GARFIELD Julia H. Petrison Homyack, 90, died Aug.

8. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church and a member of the Senior Citizens, both in Garfield..
