Pastor Silver Lake Baptist Church Jo Ann Budd Yomtob A Mass for Joseph Gonnello 71, of Spring Hill, formerly of Belleville, was offered Aug. 6 in the Holy Family Church, Nutley, after the funeral from the S.W. Brown Son Funeral Home, Nutley.

Mr. Gonnello died Aug. 3 in St. Michael's Medical Center, Newark. He had been co-owner, with his brother, Lawrence, of Gonnello Prothers excavating business for 33 years before his retirement 13 years ago.

Mr. Gonnello was a past president of the Belleville Rwanis. He also leaves his wife, Rose; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Velardo; two sons, Joseph Jr. and Frank; two sisters, Mrs.

Jane Ritchie and Mrs. Frances Bonfante; another brother, Anthony, and ten grandchildren. two nieces, and four nephews. Burial was in San Fernando Mission Cemetary, Mission Hills, California. Memorial contributions may be made to the St.

The divine seed, God's Word, falls on all kinds of ground and produces fruit little, much, or none at all, depending on the condition of the soil. No one is obliged, either by his temperament or circumstances, to be "wayside," or "stony" or "thorny" ground. The true acceptance of the Word of God requires that we do not let it lie only on the surface of our minds, not be satisfied only to have it penetrate a little deeper and take root in our emotions, or let competing desires grow up unchecked. Instead, we must cherish the Word of Truth in our deepest hearts, guard it against foes, let it rule there, and mold our conduct to its principles.

The Psalmist said, "Your Word have I hid in my heart." If we do that we shall be fruitful, because His Word will bear fruit in us. There will be increase wherever a heart opens to receive the Gospel and keeps it steadfastly. Not in equal measure in all, but in each according to faithfulness and diligence. Fruitbearing requires three things: seed', sower, and soil. The first two have already been provided.

The perfect Seed is the living Word of God. The patient Sower is the life-giving Son of God. But as the Parable of the Soils points out, even that is not enough to guarantee a harvest. Only you can provide that. And come harvest time, you will be mighty glad you did! Barren, rocky, thorny, or good.

Pick your soil carefully; it could make a hundredfold difference in your life. Kathleen Hourihan, 89 Jo Ann Budd Yomtob, 47, formerly of Belleville, died suddenly at her home in Granda Hills, California July 15. Born in Newark, Mrs. Yomtob was raised in Belleville and graduated from Belleville High School in 1959. She graduated from the Martland Medical School of Nursing and was a registered nurse.
