Gerald Fortunato, Pastor Silver Lake Baptist Church A soil analysis of the human heart "But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred" (Mark You can't sow thistles and expect roses. Nor will oak trees grow in rock-strewn deserts. What is sown, and where, are both crucial elements in producing a harvest. The divine seed, God's Word, falls on all kinds of ground and produces fruit little, 1 much, or none at all, depending on the condition of the soil. No one is obliged, either by his temperament or circumstances, to be "wayside," or "stony" or "thorny" ground.

The true acceptance of the Word of God requires that we do not let it lie only on the surface of our minds, not be satisfied only to have it penetrate a little deeper and take root in our emotions, or let competing desires grow up unchecked. Instead, we must cherish the Word of Truth in our deepest hearts, guard it against foes, let it rule there, and mold our conduct to its principles. The Psalmist said, "Your Word have I hid in my heart." Ifwe do that we shall be fruitful, because His Word will bear fruit in us. There will be increase wherever a heart opens to receive the Gospel and keeps it steadfastly. Not in equal measure in all, but in each according to faithfulness and diligence.

Fruitbearing requires three things: seed, sower, and soil. The first two have already been provided. The perfect Seed is the living Word of God. The patient Sower is the life-giving Son of God. But as the Parable of the Soils points out, even that is not enough to guarantee a harvest.

Only you can provide that. And come harvest time, you will be mighty glad you did! Barren, rocky, thorny, or good. Pick your soil carefully; i it could make a hundredfold difference in your life. Fucci promoted to manager Station New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina. A 1984 graduate of Belleville High School, he joined the Marine Corps in August 1984.

Ph. An Embarrassing Condition The person who experiences a mild case of diarrhea can turn to over-thecounter remedies for help. First, how. ever, he should give up solid foods and start drinking clear liquids. This dietary measure will help in the replacement of water loss.

Diarrhea is water that stays in the intestines instead of being absorbed by the body. It is also wise to give up caffeine and alcohol, two drugs that only add to water loss. As for over -thecounter relief from mild diarrhea, a popular absorbent-type uses kaolin and pection to bind with the excess water. Another uses the active ingredient polycarbophil, and indigestible resin. This antidiarrhea medication is recommended by the FDA for administration to children.
